Congratulations to our very own SC student, Kynlee Stoddard, the winner of the K-2 statewide “I VOTED” sticker contest held by the Secretary of State’s Office.
Monae L. Johnson, Secretary of State, invited all students K-12 across the state to participate in the contest this Spring.  Once all the submissions were in, she asked all the Constitution officers and the PUC Commissioners to help her pick the winners in the four categories: K-2nd grade, 3rd-5th grade, 6th-8th grade and 9-12th grade.   The submissions from across the state were beautiful and it was very hard for the judges to decide.
Recently Secretary Johnson visited the Stanley County Elementary School with Principal Curt Littau, CEO of Student Affairs Ben Connot, and Kynlee’s 2nd grade teacher, Lori Gloe, to present the stickers to Kynlee Stoddard and the Stanley County Auditor, Philena Burtch.
Knowing that students can’t vote yet, this is a way that Secretary Johnson includes them in the electoral process.  Having students create a work of art that later becomes a sticker for voters to put on their lapels after they cast their vote in the general election of 2024 is a great way for all to be involved.
Way to go, Kynlee! We are very proud of you!
