Rustlers blow past Lady Buffaloes

FORT PIERRE - After winning two out of their last four games, the Stanley County Lady Buffs couldn't adjust to the Miller Rustlers' level of competition Tuesday.

The Lady Buffs lost in straight sets 25-12, 25-10 and 25-6 in their matchup in Miller Tuesday.

Stanley County appeared to be ready for the challenge with a strong beginning to the opening set, but it would quickly shoot itself in the foot and things would only snowball from there.

"We came out strong in the first set and played right with them. After a few mental mistakes we just got down on ourselves," Stanley County coach Kylie Mundt said.

After dropping the first set, the Lady Buffs would struggle throughout the rest of the game against a Miller team which finished third in Saturday's Big Dakota Conference tournament. The Lady Buffs were unable to find any momentum against the tough Miller team.

"Momentum and execution did us in tonight. We didn't execute tonight and we were caught on our heels. We couldn't get anything to go our way," Mundt said.

In a losing effort, Shelby Gienger had 11 digs and Madison Hand and Shantel Norman added 6 digs each.

Stanley County will look to regain its momentum Thursday in a matchup against Gettysburg. The contest with Gettysburg will take place in Fort Pierre at 6:30 p.m.
